RELATED STORY:
(Rockwall) October 8, 2012 – A visit to Rockwall’s Original Pumpkin Patch for photographs with the pumpkins is a long-standing tradition for many area families.
Last year, Rockwall residents Jeremy and Leah Jurca started their own family tradition when they brought one-month old Charlie Kay to the Patch for her first visit.
Photographer Nell Welborn placed her in a pumpkin bin and captured the image (bottom of story).
This year Charlie Kay, now 13 months old, returned for her 2012 photo.
Saturday is family fun day at the Patch and children will enjoy story times, crafts and face painting. See rockwallpumpkinpatch.com for more about the special children’s activities. At noon each Saturday there will be a special entertainment.
There is still time for other families to take advantage of the many photo ops at the Patch. The event continues through Oct. 27 and will be open from at from 9 am to 7 pm daily, and is located in the Ridge Road Shopping Center, 1201 Ridge Road, Rockwall near Brookshire’s Supermarket.
Visitors can select from a variety of pumpkins, gourds, squashes, Indian corn, straw bales, cornstalks, and mums. Pickles, pumpkin butter and other deli items made by members of the sponsoring organizations are also for sale. And later this month pansies will be delivered and ready for fall planting.
Rockwall’s Original Pumpkin Patch is a nonprofit all-volunteer community effort and benefits the Rockwall County Library and Council of Catholic Women or Our Lady of the Lake.
