Grand Marshal of Kiwanis Christmas Parade chosen

(Rockwall – November 9, 2012) Amy Parks-Heath Elementary student Courtney Kirk has been named the winner of a poster contest, which earned her the honor of serving as Grand Marshal of the 43rd Annual Christmas Parade presented by the Kiwanis Club of Rockwall County.

The fourth grader’s artwork best depicted the parade theme “Through the Eyes of a Child,” according to the contest judges.  Her artwork is incorporated in the parade posters going up around Rockwall.

The parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 1.  The parade route starts at Caruth Drive (near the YMCA), proceeds south on SH 205 to Kaufman and then east on Kaufman to Clark Street, ending near Dobbs Elementary.

Courtney is the daughter of Brad and Melanie Kirk, and she has a younger brother Hunter.  Courtney’s favorite subjects in school are science and math.  She enjoys art, reading (especially Harry Potter books) and playing soccer.

“Courtney is wonderful art student who is passionate about creating art,” said Courtney’s art teacher, Mrs. Finan.
