Park Place Premier Collection unveils new McLaren 12C Spider

McLaren Dallas recently unveiled the stunning new McLaren 12C Spider at an invitation-only event at Park Place Premier Collection on Lemmon Avenue.

With a high performance engine generating 616 horsepower and a carbon ‘MonoCell’ chassis weighing only 3250 pounds, the 12C Spider is a luxury convertible that will stylishly go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of more than 200 mph.

The main difference between the new 12C Spider and the original MP4-12C is the retractable hardtop, made from strong but lightweight fiberglass-reinforced plastic. The retractable roof can even can be operated while the car is moving at speeds up to 19 mph. With the roof raised, the area under the tonneau can be used as an additional storage area. Specially-designed luggage that fits into this space is standard with every 12C Spider.

The Spider’s 3.8-litre V8 twin turbo engine transmits power to the car’s rear wheel drive through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, providing nimble and smooth gear changes via rocker-mounted shift paddles on the steering wheel. McLaren’s racing heritage is further manifested in the ProActive Chassis Control and the unique McLaren Airbrake, providing a luxurious ride under all driving conditions while delivering race car performance and handling.

Featuring a passive Roll Over Protection System to maximize occupant safety, each buttress on the 12C Spider contains a steel structure designed to absorb impact and protect both driver and passenger.

McLaren is a carbon pioneer. In 1981 McLaren introduced a carbon fibre monocoque chassis to Formula 1 racing with the launch of the MP4/1 race car. In 1992, the legendary McLaren F1 introduced the advanced composite technology to the world of road cars. McLaren Automotive engineers then applied its carbon expertise in developing the groundbreaking one-piece molded chassis for the 12C. The result is a sports car almost identical to its fixed roof equivalent in performance terms, and weighing only 88 pounds more with the addition of the convertible roof system.

Located at 5300 Lemmon Avenue near Love Field, McLaren Dallas is one of only 10 dealerships throughout North America to represent the luxury brand. For more information about the Premier Collection, go to facebook.com/ParkPlacePremierCollection.
