(Rockwall) November 7, 2012 – For almost 40 years, Rest Haven Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Rockwall has taken great pride in honoring local veterans with various programs and celebrations. This year, Rest Haven will again recreate the nostalgic atmosphere of an old-fashioned USO Canteen, with festive decorations and music on Friday, November 9.
The Rest Haven staff will serve hot coffee and donuts, and all local veterans – along with their family members and friends – are invited to to the funeral home to enjoy these treats “drive-thru” style.
“We will be decked out in our red, white and blue at the port a cache on the north side of our building,” said Nancy Starnes, Family Service Manager. “Whether they want to drive through and enjoy our celebration from their own cars, or park and stay while, we hope that everyone will stop by and join us in the fun event to honor our veterans.”
“We can never give back enough, or find enough ways to express our appreciation to all the men and women who have served our great nation,” said Dewayne Cain, president and founder of Rest Haven. “All our efforts to say thank you to our veterans are heartfelt, and our entire Rest Haven staff considers it a privilege to participate in any opportunity to express their gratitude.”
Rest Haven is located at 2500 State Highway 66 East in Rockwall. Canteen hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2012. For more info, contact Sharon Satterwhite at 972-771-8641.
