(November 18, 2012) Girl Scout Troop 8979 from Amy Parks Heath Elementary recently gathered at the home of Marc and Denese Drake to listen to the inspiring life story of local resident Gina Patterson.

Ms. Patterson is a burn survivor who has overcome all odds and the prognosis of her doctors who told her she would never play sports or lead an active life again.  She went on to make her college volleyball team and currently coaches many of the girls on their volleyball team and teaches Physical Education at UTDallas.

She was recently featured on Fox4News and is in the process of writing a book about her life story.
