(Rockwall) November 12, 2012 – Start celebrating the holidays early this year by attending a performance of Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas at Rockwall Community Playhouse.

The poignant play, written by Robert Fulghum, takes a funny and heartwarming look at the struggle to find that spirit of the holidays amid the avalanche of commercialism, stress and chaos that crashes down each December.

The production is directed by Steve Golin who has acted at RCP who recently appeared in 9 to 5 as Franklin Hart and as Daddy Warbucks in Annie. Earlier this year Steven was in Mesquite Community Theatre’s production of The Plot. He has performed in many productions for the Amateur Community Theatre of Rowlett and has directed there, as well.

For fun, Steve plays the piano and guitar. Steve’s son, Camryn, is assisting in the show as stage manager. By day Steve is the Technical Director for an interactive agency in Dallas. About the show, Steve comments, “This is a wonderfully well-written show. This show and these five actors will touch your heart, mind and funny-bone. “

The cast is equally as experienced in acting as its director. Doug Luke, who plays Phil, has appeared at RCP in Bed of Roses and as Norman in On Golden Pond. Among his favorite roles, he lists Inspector Rough in Angel Street, Colonel Pickering in My Fair Lady, Frank in Over the River and Through the Woods and Layman Felt in Ride Down Mt. Morgan. His last activity at RCP was as director Of Mice & Men. Commercials, voice-overs, radio and print work also occupy Doug’s time, leaving limited time for personal pursuits, such as: golf, skiing, and travel with his wife Barbara.

Jennifer White stars as Dawn. She was last seen on stage at RCP as Irene Malone in Hello Dolly! Past roles include: Sister Berthe in the Sound of Music, Lynn in Grand Night for Singing, Mrs. Meeker in Funny Girl, Rita in The Butler Did It, Alice in A Night at the Algonquin, Mrs. Pearve in My Fair Lady, Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast, Arminy in Carousel, Ayah in The Secret Garden, Mrs. Jenks in The Tender Land, Yentel in Fiddler on the Roof, Widow Comey and Mrs. Bedwin in Oliver and Portia in Cinderella.

August Gabriel is pleased to make his sixth trip to the Rockwall Community Playhouse stage playing the part of Rusty. He was previously seen in the ensemble cast of RCP’s production I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change! Other RCP roles include: Bert Healy in Annie, Sparky in Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings, Lucienne in the Boys Next Door, and Hoke in Driving Miss Daisy. A native of Seattle, WA, August earned his BFA from Eastern New Mexico University and has performed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The Seattle Repertory Theater, and The Arkansas Rep in shows as diverse as: Coriolanus, Five Guys Named Moe, and Six Degrees of Separation. When not performing, August can be found working at the Rockwall Kroger Customer Service Center.

Martin Sinise, as Nick, is having his debut performance at RCP. He has acted in several productions at Mesquite Community Theater including Uncle Aubrey in Red Velvet Cake War and Roy in The Plot. He currently acts bi-weekly atSpringcreekCommunityChurch inGarland teaching kindergarten through third grade. He performs with puppets once a month for children ages 3-5. Martin loves to work with kids of all ages. Acting runs in his family. His first cousin is  Gary Sinise.

Joan Leonard, who plays Peggy, has been acting since first grade when she was the narrator in Hansel and Gretel. She studied children’s theatre in high school and appeared in numerous productions with Little Theatre in Walton, New York. She caught the acting bug twelve years ago when she was cast as Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Ernest at the Amateur Community Theatre of Rowlett. She has also been in Over the River, The Very Great Grandson of Sherlock Holmes, Harvey, Death and Taxes, and A Date With Judy. However, she says that although she loves being on the stage, the relationships formed with the cast during rehearsals and performances are most dear to her.
