(November 28, 2012) Santa Claus is getting some help when he visits the homeless pets of the DFW area. This holiday season will be even more meaningful for the orphaned pets of North Texas thanks to Dr. Keith Webb and his staff at Pet Doctor. Those homeless dogs and cats will receive much-needed medical care thanks to the Angel Tree in the lobby of the Rockwall veterinarian.
All donations generated by the Pet Doctor Angel Tree will fund medical care for ill and injured pets rescued by Rockwall Pets. Ornaments on the tree can be used to contribute medical care from $10 and up.
“Ten dollars will pay for vaccinating a dog or cat,” explains Pam Kitkoski of Rockwall Pets. “A donation of $25 pays for a heartworm test or a feline leukemia test, $50 helps pay for a spay/neuter and higher amounts help us fund vital surgeries.”
Rockwall Pets is a nonprofit rescue organization dedicated to ending the killing of healthy shelter pets nationwide. Shelter killing is the number one cause of death for healthy dogs and cats in the United States, according to the American Humane Association. Rockwall Pets rescues animals at risk of dying in area animal shelters. The organization’s volunteers give the rescued pets full veterinary care and find them a permanent home.
Working closely with Dr. Webb and the staff at Pet Doctor, Rockwall Pets has rescued hundreds of animals since April. The veterinary staff came up with the idea for an Angel Tree to fund lifesaving care for even more pets.
After spending time on death row, imagine the gleam in the eye of these pets when they discover Santa has brought them a new loving home for Christmas. Thanks to the Pet Doctor Angel Tree, dreams will come true this holiday season.
