City water rate increase

City of Rockwall water/waste water rates will increase on Jan. 1, which will cost residential customers an average of $6.05 more each month.

Water customers will see the increased rates on their February water bills.

The new rates were approved due to higher water costs the city must pay its supplier, the North Texas Municipal Water District.

Consultant process revised

A more transparent and structured process for selection of various consultants was approved by the Rockwall City Council recently.

The new process includes a Consultant Selection Team, which will be comprised of various departmental groups that will evaluate each firm’s qualifications and proposals.

The basis for final selection will be made using the total score from the consultants’ evaluated submittal forms and from the committee interview.

Future projects that will require the new selection process include the roadway reconstruction and Interstate 30 ramp projects that were approved in the 2012 bond election along with a number of small water and waste water projects.
