Rockwall ISD names new principals for Stevenson, Springer elementary schools

(ROCKWALL ISD-December 19, 2012) The Rockwall Independent School District is pleased to announce that Mike Pitcher, current principal at Ouida Springer Elementary, has been named as the new principal for Billie Stevenson Elementary.  Pitcher will assume his new role on January 2 to prepare for the opening of the school in the fall of 2013.

Pitcher holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and a master’s degree from Texas A&M University at Commerce. After 10 years teaching experience with Garland ISD, Pitcher joined Rockwall ISD as an assistant principal at Amy Parks-Heath Elementary. He also served as an assistant principal at Dorothy Smith Pullen Elementary. In August 2004, Pitcher served as the sole principal for the opening of Ouida Springer Elementary School.

“Mr. Pitcher’s experience and leadership will be great assets as we prepare for the opening of the new elementary school,” said Superintendent of Schools Jeff Bailey.

Brad Helmer, current assistant principal at Ouida Springer Elementary, will serve as the new principal for that school beginning January 2, 2013. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and a master’s degree from East Texas State University. Helmer is pursuing his doctoral degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University at Commerce and is scheduled to graduate in August 2013. He will continue to bring innovative thinking and high expectations for learning to Ouida Springer Elementary.
