Run 4 Blane honors memory of local student, raises money for graduating seniors

(ROCKWALL – December 4, 2012) Blane Thompson was a bright-eyed boy who loved animals, school and being active.  If someone or something was ever in need, Blane was there.  From the stray animal, to the elderly lady unloading her groceries, Blane was always extending a helping hand.

He excelled in academics and at the age of 11 he had the goal of going to Texas A&M to become a veterinarian.

In March of 2003, Blane was in a tragic snow skiing accident that claimed his life after ten days in the hospital.  Blane was the youngest son of Chris and Carol and the brother to Christopher and Patrick.  The family gained hope and strength through their Christian faith and five years later decided to start an annual Fun Run to carry on Blane’s attitude of helping others.

Over the past four years the Annual Run 4 Blane has raised more than $40,000 that has gone to eight graduating Rockwall students.  This year the Annual Run for Blane will be held at Harry Myers Park at 9 a.m. Saturday, December 8.

If you are interested in running or donating to this cause, please visit Run 4 Blane or register the day of the race.
