(ROCKWALL ISD-January 8, 2013) Springer Elementary 2nd graders have been studying about Navajo Code Talkers this term. The Navajo Code Talkers were important citizens, because they helped the United States during World War II.
The Navajo Code Talkers used their ancient language as a secret code during the war. Through their secret language they were able to relay messages that otherwise could have been understood by the enemy.
To show support for these American heroes, the 2nd grade students donated money to help preserve an important piece of their history. Springer students raised more than $70 for the Navajo Code Talkers Museum and Veteran’s Center Project in Arizona.
For more information on these special veterans, visit navajocodetalkers.org.
