(February 3, 2013) Justin A. Holland has officially filed for a second term on the Heath City Council. The city secretary accepted the application at 8 a.m. on Wednesday January 30. In 2011, he became the youngest person ever elected to public office in Heath, Texas by winning his election with 69.16% of the vote for place 2.
In his first term, Justin immediately became an advocate for the citizens of Heath in issues such as street and public safety initiatives, prudent financial choices and proactive attention to the infrastructure needs of the city’s water delivery systems, roads and thoroughfares.
Currently, some of Justin’s goals include focusing on promotion of commercial development and attraction of restaurant and retail providers to Heath, expansion of parks and recreation for the city’s youth and aligning with the city’s comprehensive plans for integrating unique streetscape enhancements at key locations as part of projecting Heath’s positive image and enhanced identity. Justin is the appointed liaison of the City Council to the Heath Economic Development Corporation and Municipal Benefits Corporation.
About Justin Holland
Justin is a sixth generation Rockwall County and Heath resident. He began his public service career while a student at Texas Tech University as a leader in the Student Government Association and also serving in the Office of Congressman Randy Neugebauer (TX-19) in Washington, D.C. He previously served on the city’s Special Events Board where he helped plan and execute events such as the Heart of Heath 5k, Independence Day Parade and Heath Holiday in the Park.
One of Justin’s major long-term goals is to see Rockwall County as home to a major 4-year university. He is a member of Rockwall Rotary Club, Rockwall Men’s Republican Club, East Trinity Masonic Lodge #157 and has been active in local American Cancer Society events in years past.
Justin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Public Affairs from Texas Tech University in 2005 where he was President of the Epsilon-Phi Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a Master of Science degree in Management from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2008. Professionally, Justin is the Director of Marketing & Employee Relations for a multi-state commercial general contractor. Justin has been married to wife Neely for 5 years in 2013 and they have one daughter, Wiley Beth, who is 1 year old. The Hollands are members of Lake Pointe Church.
