(ROCKWALL-Feb 3, 2013) Friends of the Rockwall County Library will meet at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12 in the Community Room of the library.
Following the election of officers for the 2013-14 year, members and guests will be entertained by talented local performers.
Leslie Buie and Nancy Beaty will present excerpts from the Pulitzer Prize nominated play, “Love Letters” by A. R. Gurney. This poignant, romantic play chronicles the 50-year relationship between Melissa and Andy through their letters.
Nancy Beaty’s love for the written word developed at an early age. Beaty says, “Some of my fondest childhood memories center around libraries and books.” Beaty, a former Friends president was a member of the Library Capital Campaign Committee and is a strong supporter of the Rockwall County Library.
Leslie Buie is an active Storyteller and Toastmaster. He and his wife, Jane, have been active members of Friends of the Library for many years. His dedication to the art of communication is evident in the tales he weaves.
Friends meets six times a year and all meetings, with the exception of the Christmas Luncheon, are held in the Community Room of the Rockwall County Library. The group works to promote the interest and welfare of the Library and profits from their various fundraising events supplement the County library budget, paying for special children’s programming, adult literacy programs, subscriptions and other items.
Meetings start at 11 a.m. and visitors are invited; however reservations are required for all and must be received by Tuesday, February 5. That is also the last day to cancel prior reservations. Contact Leigh Plagens, 972-771-8976 or cplagens65@aol.com.
