Mayor Sweet, City Manager reflect on city’s Chamber Partner of the Year Award

City Manager Rick Crowley and Rockwall Mayor David Sweet accept the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce 2012 Chamber Partner of the Year Award from chamber president Dana Macalik.

(ROCKWALL-February 7, 2013) The City of Rockwall was recently honored with the 2012 Chamber Partner of the Year Award by the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce.

“We are extremely honored to receive this award,” said Mayor David Sweet. “Our staff and elected officials share the belief that we are all partners in the continuing development of our hometown. We have the common goal of making Rockwall a wonderful hometown.”

The city works hard every day with residents, businesses, organizations and so many others to create strong partnerships, which help build a bridge of understanding and cooperation across our hometown, explained Mayor Sweet.

“The ability to build that bridge,” he added, “is what makes a city great. And to be spotlighted by the chamber for this effort, makes it all worthwhile. I think it shows we have been successful.”

Dana K. Macalik, President of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, congratulated the City of Rockwall on receiving the award.

Citing the importance of partnerships and of developing relationships in business and in life, Ms. Macalik said the two overlap in many facets – but partnering requires more than just a relationship.

“This community has a great asset in the leadership and employees of the City of Rockwall. The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce appreciates all the ways the city has supported us with various programs and events in 2012, which continue to make our city a great place to live, work and play,” she said.

The City of Rockwall was honored by the chamber’s recognition and is pleased to be a chamber partner, said City Manager Rick Crowley.

“Working with the chamber is one of the city’s successful partnership efforts,” Crowley noted.

Whether it is builders, developers, the Rockwall Economic Development Corporation, Leadership Rockwall, the historic society, the arts community or, most importantly, our residents, “by working together we have built strong relationships that make Rockwall a great city,” said Mayor Sweet.
