(ROCKWALL-February 5, 2013) Thanks to a generous grant awarded to the Boys & Girls Club of Rockwall County from the Payless Shoe Foundation, 150 kids under the age of 18 received a brand new pair of shoes over the past three Saturdays.
Club members, siblings of Club members and several foster families were treated to a special opening at the Rockwall Payless store from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Store employees assisted kids and parents as they measured feet, picked out shoes and checked out.
Each child in attendance received a $20 gift card to purchase a pair of shoes or accessories, and participants were allowed to apply any additional coupons including BOGO savings! One parent of four Club members paid less than $4 for 4 pairs of shoes after applying all of her savings and Payless gift cards!
“We are grateful to Payless for their generosity and for selecting the Boys & Girls Club of Rockwall. We were able to help many children and families who were in need by providing a new pair of shoes,” said Misti Potter, Boys & Girls Club of Rockwall CEO.
“It was absolutely a wonderful experience working with the Rockwall Payless Shoe Store to place shoes on children’s feet and smiles on their faces,” said Stephan Larson, Boys & Girls Club of Rockwall Director of Program Service.
“The joy it gave the children and their families is priceless, and what an exciting learning opportunity that I would do again,” said Heather Huberty, Rockwall Payless store manager.
