Throwaway Ponies receives grant, needs volunteers

(ROCKWALL-February 14, 2013) Throwaway Ponies, a horse rescue and rehabilitation organization, received a grant from the ASPCA to improve fencing at their location in Farmersville.

TaPs has over 40 horses at its Rockwall location and 25 in Farmersville. There is more property in Farmersville (27 acres), but it needs cross-fencing. So, thanks to the grant from the ASPCA, this can be done.

“We still need some welding done before we can set T-posts and wire, but as soon as that’s done, we’ll ask volunteers to come put in gates and fences,” said Karen Bander, owner of Throwaway Ponies. “Then we can move some horses from Rockwall to Farmersville.”

The Farmersville location can also use some volunteers to groom and feed horses. To find out more about volunteering, visit the website, throwawayponies.org.
