City Bank to award $50,000 to local nonprofits

Voting begins Friday, March 29 at citybankonline.com

(March 21, 2013) For the first year, Rockwall and Forney residents can help their favorite charity secure up to $10,000 by participating in the Community Rewards program sponsored by City Bank Texas.

City Bank will award a total of $50,000 to 10 local nonprofits—5 winners in each community—to assist them in carrying out their missions of hope and service to people in need throughout our cities and the surrounding areas.

Forney and Rockwall will each have a separate ballot with $25,000 designated to winners of their respective communities. Any qualifying nonprofit organization is eligible to register and participate.

Both Forney and Rockwall residents will determine their reward recipients—one $10,000, one $5,000 and three $2,500—by voting for their favorite charity online at citybankonline.com.

Five $500 “early rewards” were presented at kick-off events on March 19.

Persons can vote once per day between Friday, March 29, and Friday, May 3.  Votes will be calculated during that period and the 10 winning charities, determined by vote totals, will be notified on Monday, May 6.

Nonprofit agency directors, board members and staff will be encouraged to rally their friends and donors to vote to maximize their chance of finishing in the top 10 and receiving a reward.

During the past five years, in other markets, City Bank has awarded $260,000 in Community Rewards to 40 nonprofit entities.

“Community Rewards is a way for us to give back and help many of our neighbors through the caring and dedicated work of our nonprofit agencies,” said Cory T. Newsom, City Bank President and CEO.

“We also like that it builds awareness for a multitude of nonprofits and highlights their services and needs. We are blessed to live in communities with so many outstanding and caring agencies, and we are extremely pleased to be able to lend a hand in helping improve the quality of life.”

Registration deadline is Friday, March 22.
