(ROCKWALL ISD-March 24, 2013) Spencer Sosnowski, Rockwall Heath High School senior band member, was one of two students recently selected from hundreds of entries across the US, to perform with “The President’s Own” United States Marine Corps Band in Washington, D.C.
The annual United States Marine Corps Band Concerto Competition is open to high school students throughout the country. The total number of entries is narrowed down to 30 finalists but only two students are chosen to perform.
The other finalist was Rebecca Oliverio, a student from Maryland.
In addition to being granted a $2,500 award, Spencer was flown to Washington, D.C. for a March 17 performance with what is considered to be the finest wind band in the world – “The President’s Own” USMC Concert Band.
