(ROWLETT-March 12, 2013) Keep Rowlett Beautiful is accepting applications for matching beautification grants up to $1,000 to neighborhood associations or other groups for enhancement programs (gateway improvements or other public areas that are readily visible to the general public).
This program is initiated at the neighborhood level in the belief that people working together can enhance and beautify Rowlett.
Residents of the neighborhood are encouraged to participate as organizers and workers of the projects. All residents within the area should be invited to participate in the project and benefit from the improvements. Public areas for this purpose are defined as any land area within the scope of this program that falls within or on the boundaries of a subdivision or neighborhood.
KRB will award the funds based on a point system. Criteria includes: select a public area highly visible to both the public and neighborhood; demonstrate neighborhood commitment in the form of free project labor, in-kind donations, volunteer efforts, and ongoing long-term maintenance; use of drought tolerant/freeze resistant native trees and landscaping plants; use of available expertise from local nurseries (or other legitimate sources) for advice and technical requirements; projects must be approved by the city of Rowlett Parks Department and Code Enforcement Department prior to approval by KRB.
After approval, application packets can be mailed to Keep Rowlett Beautiful, P.O. Box 1992, Rowlett, TX 75030-1992, or delivered to the KRB office between the hours of 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Mon.-Fri. at 4701 Rowlett, 75088. For more information or an application form, contact KRB at 972 463-3929 or email info@keeprowlettbeautiful.org.
