(ROCKWALL-March 21, 2013) Rockwall County Helping Hands is pleased to announce the appointment of Alicia Coleman as the agency’s new controller. Alicia has been Lake Ray Hubbard area resident for 22 years. She is a CPA licensed in Texas since 1993 and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Accounting from the University of North Texas.
Prior to joining RCHH, Alicia was in the Financial Services industry for 3 ½ years as a Financial Planner. She helped her clients with their securities, insurance, and retirement planning needs.
The majority of her experience is in Accounting. Alicia was the Controller of another non-profit, The Potter’s House of Dallas, for 9 years. As Controller, she was responsible for the leadership and operation of an Accounting Department of approximately 30 employees. At that time, there were more than 300 employees.
Prior to becoming Controller at The Potter’s House, Alicia had a successful career in management at SBC for 9 ½ years working in General Ledger, Finance Operations, Internal Auditing, Market Are Budgeting and Financial Management, and Financial Planning.
Alicia began her career in Big 8 Public Accounting having interned and worked for KPMG Peat Marwick both during and after college. She had the honor of being the first African-American professional hired in the tax department in the Dallas office.
Alicia has 2 children (Brittany, 22 and Kendall, 17). They are both athletes heavily involved in Rockwall High School sports. Kendall is a senior and is the centerfielder for the Varsity baseball team. Brittany played on the 2007 State Championship girl’s basketball team and is a graduating senior this May from Tarleton State University. Her community Involvement includes; Dallas All-Sports Association Board of Directors, The Potter’s House Church, INROADS Alumni and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
