(ROCKWALL ISD-April 27, 2013) Rockwall High School’s Academic Decathlon team competed at the United States Academic Decathlon National Competition in Minneapolis, Minnesota April 25-27. They finished third in the nation for the second year in a row.
The team was led by coaches Michael Oldham and Nicole Redmond.
First and second place wins were earned by two California charter schools.
Individual Team Members Won a Total of 18 medals:
- Kennady Abbott (Honors)- Bronze in Music and Bronze in Economics
- Jacob Cariker (Honors)- Gold in Music, Bronze in Art, Gold in Language and Literature, Bronze in Economics, Gold in Science, and named Most Valuable Team Member
- Jonathan Saunders (Scholastic)- Silver in Music and Bronze in Science
- Sarah Jester (Varsity)- Bronze in Music and Bronze in Art
- Grant Workings (Varsity)- Bronze in Social Science
- Enrico Trevisani (Varsity)- Gold in Music, Bronze in Language and Literature, Bronze in Economics, Gold in Speech, Bronze in Social Science, and Gold for the Overall top varsity in the Nation
