Discover Rockwall’s History

Rockwall takes its name from an underground formation discovered by three settlers in the early 1850s. Terry Utley Wade, Benjamin Boydstun and William Clay Stevenson were digging a well near what is now the Walmart Neighborhood Market, when they unearthed the mysterious rock wall. No one has ever determined if the wall is natural or man-made.

Rockwall was officially platted as a community by Elijah Elgin on April 17, 1854, when he purchased a 40-acre tract from W.B. Bowles. The area that became Rockwall was a small part of the 572-acre homestead of Benjamin Boydstun.

The very first Founders Day Festival was Rockwall’s sesquicentennial celebration with a celebration headlined by Little River Band on April 17, 2004. It became an annual event and moved to the historic downtown square in 2005.

Casey Donahew has forged a path all his own through the country music scene without a major record label or power-suit management company.

The Burleson native has attracted a solid base of loyal fans over the past decade that flocked to his legendary live shows.

Building his career from the ground up, one show at a time, he’s managed to perform on countless stages in front of thousands, topped Texas music charts several times and released four albums independently to critical acclaim.
