(ROCKWALL-May 13, 2013) Rockwall County Newcomers and Friends were entertained at their May 9th meeting by representatives of Rockwall Summer Musicals, Barbara Doudt, director and Lucy Ragsdale, 8th grade student at Utley Middle School.
Vocal numbers from well-known musical productions were performed and the Newcomers were lead in a sing-a-long. The Summer Musicals this season will be “1776” and “The King and I”.
Installation of officers for 2013-14 was conducted by Kay Anderson who presented red roses to the newly elected trustees: Carol Hatcher, President; Kathy Weintraub, 1st Vice President; Judy Buffington, 2nd Vice President; Suzanne Smith, Secretary; and Ann Maas, Treasurer.
The recently developed Newcomers and Friends website, newcomersrock.com was demonstrated by Milly Cundy, Newcomers Webmaster. Art work on the website was created by Pat Szalay.
A ‘year in review’ slide show developed by Martha Foster and Pat Szalay was enjoyed by the 84 members and guest as lunch was served by Zach’s catering at the meeting site, Occasions in Royse City.
Newcomers will not hold general meetings during June, July and August but some activities such as canasta, Bunco and book clubs will continue throughout the summer. All women of Rockwall County are invited to go to the website newcomersrock.com to learn more about this social organization which focuses on fostering friendships in our community.
