Singin’ in the Rain opens to rave reviews

FINAL WEEKEND, June 21-23

(Garland) June 21, 2013 – The 2013 Garland Summer’s Musical’s presentation of Singin’ in the Rain opened to rave reviews – and there’s still time to see this weekend’s final performances.

The 1920’s is the setting for this zany, light-hearted romantic comedy about the early days of sound  film when a movie studio found itself scrambling to salvage the career of  a silent film star. It’s filled with spectacular song and dance numbers including the show stopping on-stage rainstorm in the title number. Songs include: You Are My Lucky Star; Good Morning; Make ‘Em Laugh; You Stepped Out Of A Dream; All I Do Is Dream of You; and the title song Singin’ In the Rain!

Singin’ In The Rain is under the direction of Buff Shurr.  Staff includes:  Musical Director, Mark Mullino; Choreographer – Kelly McCain with additional choreography by Joseph Jones; Lighting Design – Susan A. White;  Set Design- Kelly Cox; Props- Lynn Mauldin; Costumes- Michael Robinson and Suzi Shankle/The Dallas Costume Shoppe; Master Carpenter- Joe Murdock; and Sound Design – Wes Weisheit; Stage Manager- Morgan Leigh Beach; Technical Director – Rachel DuPree.  Producer is Patty Granville.

All performances are held at the Granville Arts Center in downtown Garland (300 N. 5th Street – Garland,  TX 75040)  Tickets available at the door or by calling the box office at 972-205-2790.  Garland Summer Musicals is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides acting and technical opportunities to students and professional actors each summer.  GSM has been providing Musical Theatre entertainment to North Texas for 31 years!

Singin’ in the Rain leading roles are:  Joseph Jones as Don Lockwood; Carl DeForrest Hendin as Cosmo Brown, Hayley Ewerz as Cathy Selden, and Julie Mayer as  Lina Lamont. Others featured in the cast are:  Jay Taylor as R.F. Simpson; Elise Libbers as Dora Bailey; Stevin Golin as Roscoe Dexter;

Liam Taylor as Young Cosmo Brown ; Carson Ochoa as Young Don Lockwood;  Steven Beene as the Diction Coach; Thomas Renner as the Production Tenor Soloist; Cody Dry as Sid Phillips; Linda Frank as Roz; and Jill Lightfoot as Zelda Zanders.  Ensemble includes: Maddie McQueen, Elisabeth Mays, Donna Knight, Shannon Walsh, Katey Gray, Kaitlyn Cahalen, Hilary Werthmann, Katie Nicholas, Kyle Coughlin, Jacob Valle, Clinton Greenspan, Ashton Shawver, Perry Sook; Lindsey Williams, Erika Larsen, Kristin Di Francesco; Meghan Miller, Nick Chabot, Ethan Dunn, Nicholas Haas and Chris Edwards.
