(Rockwall) June 26, 2013 – Residents of Lake Rockwall Estates attended a meeting last night to learn about the dangers of teen drug use.  The Rockwall County panelists included District Attorney Kenda Culpepper, Juvenile Services Director Angie Scalf, Director of Juvenile Counseling Services Debbie Lewis, and Rockwall Police Department School Resource Officer M. Hardman.

Enid Reyes from Lake Pointe Church acted as the moderator and translator for the exclusively Hispanic audience.

The presentation came in the wake of two area teen overdoses from the prescription drug Xanax in the last couple of weeks.  The panelists discussed how to recognize the more commonly abused illegal and prescription drugs and what the consequences of teen drug abuse can be.

“I thought the meeting was very productive,” said District Attorney Kenda Culpepper.  “The meeting lasted for almost three hours because so many people were asking questions.  It is good to see parents being more proactive about their children’s safety.”
