(Garland) July 8, 2013 – Three Garland ISD high schools have ranked in the top 10 percent of more than 21,000 evaluated by U.S. News & World Report. The publication recently released its 2013 Best High Schools Rankings.
In the report, 500 of the nation’s top campuses received gold medals, nearly 1,800 more received silver and approximately 2,500 received bronze. Garland, Rowlett and North Garland high schools all earned silver medals, ranking in the top 2,200.
Campuses’ positions were determined by how well they prepared students for college and whether their students performed above state averages on reading and math proficiency tests. Only 400 Texas high schools made the list. Garland ISD rankings are below.
Garland High School ranked 1,292 in the nation and 118 in Texas. According to U.S. News & World Report, at least 44-percent of students participate in Advanced Placement course work and exams. The campus also has a 94-percent math proficiency and 97-percent reading proficiency.
Rowlett High School ranked 1,550 in the nation and 140 in Texas. According to U.S. News & World Report, at least 34-percent of students participate in Advanced Placement course work and exams. The campus also has a 97-percent math proficiency and 99-percent reading proficiency.
North Garland High School ranked 2,190 in the nation and 192 in Texas. According to U.S. News & World Report, at least 24-percent of students participate in Advanced Placement course work and exams. The campus also has a 91-percent math proficiency and 95-percent reading proficiency.
