Revvin’ for Relief: charitable motorcycle events in Texas

(Dallas, Texas) July 15, 2013 –Motorcycle charitable events can be one of the best reasons to get on your bike. Each year, numerous events take place throughout the United States with causes ranging from cancer research to parkway development. There’s little doubt that bikers need a reason to bike, but what if your ride this year meant something more? If you are ready to take on the challenge, the good news is there are numerous opportunities in Texas worth exploring.

BikeBandit.com AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days – July 19-21

The American Motorcyclist Association has announced that BikeBandit.com will sponsor the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days event this weekend. It’s in Ohio, a bit of a ride from Texas, but the more time biking across the country, the better—right? The event celebrates vintage motorcycles and the heritage of motorcycling by featuring the continent’s largest motorcycle swap meet and various seminars. All proceeds support the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. Every hour throughout the entirety of the event, the popular motorcycle parts, gear and accessories outlet will give away six gift cards every hour for winners to use on anything from motorcycle helmets to bike parts. You can then use your new equipment for all of the upcoming charity rides you’ll be participating in this summer until year’s end.

Bikers for Heroes – Sept 14

Bikers for Heroes is launching their second annual patriotic parade this year on Saturday, September 14th. A cavalcade of motorcycles will start and finish in the Community of Westminster with a scenic itinerary through Farmersville Square and The War Memorial Plaza. The $20 participation fee raises funds to empower wartime vets for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Revvin’ for the Ribbon – Sept 21

Pin on your pink ribbon for this annual event benefiting breast cancer patients. The 2013 Revvin’ for the Ribbon motorcycle rally weaves through the Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex. Expect to see at least 500 riders roaring down the streets, CycleFish.com has stated. The rally will be complemented with an expo and benefit concert featuring vendors and survivors from the breast cancer community. All proceeds will go to providing “The Ultimate Healing Kit” to Metroplex patients undergoing breast cancer surgery.

Dallas-Fort Worth Ride for Kids – Oct. 13

There’s a soft spot in every rough-and-tumble biker, especially when it comes to helping charities like the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The Dallas-Fort Worth Ride for Kids event is taking place in Fort Worth at the Texas Motor Speedway on October 13 this year, according to CureTheKids.org. Hundreds of motorcyclists will roll through the Texan countryside to raise money for family support programs and PBTF medical research. There’s also a drawing to win a Honda motorcycle, as well as other great prizes, for those who enter and are present. And, if you need even more incentive, all riders get a light breakfast and lunch as well as beverages during the event. You can even meet some of the Ride for Kids “stars,” the local kids who are at the center of the event.

TriCounty Toy Run of Central Texas – Dec. 21

If you are riding in December, be sure to participate in the 21st Annual TriCounty Toy Run of Central Texas. Hosted by the American Legion Post 133, this event brings motorcyclists together to ride for numerous charities. The event sponsored 18 charities last year, all of which contributed toys to more than 8,300 kids. More than $23,000 was raised for needy kids just in time for the holiday season. You’ll get a free breakfast as well as a chili supper once you get to the destination, CycleFish.com notes. It all starts in Temple, Texas, and will end at Ogletree Gap Park, according to TricountyToyRun.org.

There’s no reason to hang up your motorcycle helmet this season. Instead, strap on your helmet and jacket, round up your biker friends and plan to hit each one of these philanthropic motorcycle events.
