Rockwall Chamber recognizes Special Products & Mfg as Partner of the Month

(Rockwall) July 1, 2013 – The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce celebrates the achievements of local businesses and community organizations by featuring one outstanding business or organization each month. The Partner Spotlight of the Month is awarded to companies who have recognized and can demonstrate the added value of being a Chamber member.

The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce recently selected SPM – Special Products & Manufacturing – as its June 2013 Partner Spotlight of the Month. SPM specializes in electro-mechanical assembly, precision metal fabrication, machining, welding and power coating. Founded in 1963 by Robert J. (Bob) Grand-Lienard Jr., SPM grew from humble beginnings in a “garage shop” to larger facilities in Dallas and Garland – and finally to its current location, a 140,000 sq. ft. facility in Rockwall’s Technology Park. Robert J. (Rob) Grand-Lienard III and Edward M. (Ed) Grand-Lienard are part of the management team that currently leads the family-owned business.

Chamber Ambassador James Nelson, who serves on the Chamber Board and as Chairman of the Partnership Committee, welcomed SPM’s leadership team to a presentation of the Partner Spotlight of the Month Award. He recognized SPM for its outstanding commitment to the Chamber and the community. A “traveling trophy” was presented to SPM by last month’s award recipient, Rockwall ISD Superintendent Jeff Bailey.

“We have a great partnership with the Chamber,” said SPM’s Nora Harding, thanking the Chamber for the honor. “Most recently, we partnered with the Chamber for the Chick-fil-A Leadercast event, and it was an awesome experience for our associates.”

Two of SPM’s key IT and computer logistics employees were dedicated to helping the Chamber with the execution of the live simulcast event, which involved several months of planning and logistical details. SPM also coordinated with Chick-fil-A’s corporate office in Atlanta to ensure that everything went well from a technical standpoint. “Graduation ceremonies” were held during Leadercast to recognize the exceptional leadership of these SPM employees.

In addition, SPM employees volunteered their time to help with the Taste of Rockwall and Business Expo. They spent several hours assisting Chamber staff and exhibitors with set-up and take-down for the event.

Also, Rob Grand-Lienard joined the Chamber Board of Directors this past January, and joined the Partnership Committee to help identify prospective speakers for the Chamber’s Monthly Partner Luncheons. He helped secure a dynamic speaker and author for the August program.

“SPM management has taken a hands-on role with the Chamber – helping to identify and create business development efforts to expose the Chamber to overall success within the community,” said Dana Macalik, Chamber president. “These engagement activities will be far-reaching as the Chamber addresses the growth of the Rockwall community over the next five to ten years.”

“It is this type of commitment and dedication to the community, to the Chamber, and to their employees that makes SPM an outstanding Partner,” Macalik said.

In addition to receiving the traveling trophy, SPM will be added to a wall plaque on display at the Chamber office.
