Rockwall Community Playhouse is full of exuberant teenagers during rehearsals for the delightful teen musical Zombie Prom, which is based on a story by John Dempsey and Hugh Murphy and features music by Dana P. Rowe.  The action takes place in the nuclear 1950’s and is set in the hallways and classrooms of the Enrico Fermi High School where pretty senior Toffee has fallen for bad boy Jonny. Her family forces her to end their romance, and Jonny races off to the nuclear plant on his motorcycle. He returns glowing but determined to take Toffee to the prom. Great fifties-style music makes it a light-hearted romp and fun for the whole family.

Male lead, Jonny, is played by Camryn Golin who is a 17-year-old Rowlett High School student. This is his third back-to-back performance at the Rockwall theatre. His father, Steve, frequently acts on the RCP stage and has encouraged his son to seek out roles. Camryn was David in God’s Favorite and appeared as the Artful Dodger in Oliver, as well.

Anne-Marie Thacker who appears as Toffee in the musical is a rising 9th grader at Rockwall-Heath High School. Her previous roles at RCP include: Bet in Oliver, Amber in Hairspray, and  Amy in Little Women.

The supporting trio of girls features: Rachel James as Candy, Savannah Burrus as Ginger, and Shannon White as Coco. Both Shannon and Savannah were asked to change their hair color to better fit their roles, so Savannah will be a redhead for the summer, and Shannon will be a platinum blonde. Chad Pflieger (Joey), Jacob Turner (Jake), and Bryce Brewer (Josh) play Jonny’s pals.

Providing comedic flair are Jacob Valle (Eddie Flagrante) and Alex Naranjo (Miss Delilah Strict) who play ex-flames and adversaries with great chemistry, as well as, harmony. Rounding out the cast are: Samantha Masucci (Ramona Merengue), Jasmine Durham (Sheila), and Tara Phipps (Stage Manager).

Director Dane Hoffman is excited to return to Rockwall Community Playhouse where he was last seen onstage in Oliver. Favorite roles include Edna in Hairspray, Pseudolus in Forum, The Baker in Into the Woods, Dr. Parker in Bat Boy, and Nicely Nicely in Guys and Dolls.
