Rockwall County Historical Foundation earns grant, in running for additional $10,000

“A donation of $2,000 can do good for our community — but a check for $10,000 could do a whole lot more”

(Rockwall) July 30, 2013 – The Rockwall County Historical Foundation will receive a $2,000 grant, thanks to The Fite Agency and Safeco Insurance. And with your help, they could get $10,000 more from Safeco.

The Rockwall County Historical Foundation takes great pride in serving residents of Rockwall by preserving the past for the future, encouraging the restoration, education and recognition of significant places and people of Rockwall County.

“We’re thrilled when members of our community want to share in our work. That’s why we were so happy when The Fite Agency approached us and offered volunteers to help in the Vintage Base Ball fundraisers by  playing an exhibition game using 1860 rules, period equipment and uniforms,” RCHF president, Carolyn Francisco, wrote in a press release.

“After helping us out, The Fite Agency submitted an entry to the Safeco Insurance® Make More Happen Awards — and won a $2,000 grant for us! It’s one of 57 given by Safeco as part of the award program, which asked independent agents across the country to send in photos of their employees taking part in volunteer activities. We’re incredibly thankful to receive this donation, which will help us continue to fulfill our mission statement.”

The community’s support over the next few weeks in the Safeco Insurance Make More Happen vote-off could mean an extra $10,000 for Rockwall County Historical Foundation if The Fite Agency is one of the top four vote-getters.

“If you’re 13 or older, vote for your our favorite volunteers — The Fite Agency — once each day from July 29 until the contest ends at 10 a.m. PDT on Aug. 19,” Francisco said.

“Thanks again to our wonderful volunteers and Frank Fite II, who submitted the photo and application that got us selected for a Make More Happen Award. We are honored to count The Fite Agency as a partner in our mission,” Francisco said.
