Zombie Glow runners race to support Rockwall Community Playhouse

(Rockwall) July 23, 2013 – Harry Myers Park was crawling with unworldly creatures the evening of July 19th during the Rockwall Community Playhouse’s Zombie Glow Fun Run.

Runners at Rockwall Community Playhouse's Zombie Fun Run begin the 5K/1 mile competition at Harry Myers Park on July 19th.
Mikayla Collins and Kelli Gartman tied for the mile run.

More than 100 participants, many dressed as zombies, raced or walked through the scenic location.

Afternoon thunderstorms cleared to reveal a blue sky, and surprise guests, including Miss Texas Molly Woehl and Mrs. Texas Crystal White, distributed water bottles to the thirsty crowd.

Youth Dylan Zator was first to complete the mile, followed by Mikayla Collins and Kelli Gartman who crossed the finish line together.

Members of the National Charity League Class of 2017, dressed as ghouls, cheered on the runners at the one mile marker, and the cast of the RCP teen musical Zombie Prom (on stage July 27-29, Aug. 2-4 and 9-11) entertained the crowds.

The run served as a fundraiser for the capital building fund for the new RCP facility which will be located on Airport Road in Rockwall. The organization hopes to make the race an annual event.
