August 18, 2013 – Registration is underway for the Plano Family YMCA 2013-14 Preschool Program, which begins Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Children age 3 to 5 will enjoy lessons in math and counting, science, pre-phonics, letters, colors and shapes, arts and crafts, weather and the seasons, calendars, character building, cooking, nutrition, Spanish and sign language.
“We take the responsibility of early childhood education seriously,” said Samantha Buehler, Youth Development Director at the Plano Family YMCA. “Our number one goal is to provide the environment and influence that encourages all children to become creative, independent and responsible students who make positive choices for themselves.”
The program runs 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, with post-care from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Drop off begins at 7:45 a.m. A three day option (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) is available. The Preschool Program follows the Plano ISD calendar for holidays.
The Nguyen family of Plano recently wrote to the Plano Y commending the Preschool Program and staff.
“From the morning drop off to the afternoon pickup, we are always greeted with a ‘hello’ and a smiling face. We can see the genuine care and love that the teachers have for our child and all the kids entrusted to their care,” the Nguyen’s wrote. “Our daughter has learned a lot from her teachers. They are doing a terrific job at putting Christian principles into practice and instilling in her the core values of the YMCA – building a healthy spirit, mind and body.”
The Nguyen’s also shared their gratitude for the scholarship awarded to their daughter, allowing her to attend preschool.
“We were barely able to afford daycare for our daughter. When we realized that we could not afford daycare any longer, we considered withdrawing her. However, the Director of the Plano Family YMCA was very understanding and worked with us to keep her there.”
They thanked the Plano Family YMCA for helping many families in their position.
“Families do not need to be members of the Y to enroll their children in the Preschool Program,” said Buehler. “However, it’s the perfect time to join our Y family and take advantage of all of our programs and services! The Plano Family YMCA is hosting a school supply drive through August 31; donate a backpack full of school supplies for a local child in need, and we will waive your Joiner’s Fee!”
The Plano Family YMCA is located at 3300 McDermott inPlano, 75025.
