(Rockwall ISD) August 25, 2013 – Rockwall ISD is proud to announce that Julie Woodard from Dorothy Smith Pullen Elementary has been named one of three elementary state finalists in the Texas Association of School Administrators Teacher of the Year Program. Woodard was first named Rockwall ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year in May, then advanced to the Region 10 level of the competition.
On Tuesday, August 14, Julie Woodard and Rockwall ISD Secondary teacher of the year Brandon Vestal were honored at a luncheon hosted by the Region 10 Education Service Center. At that event, Woodard was then named the Region 10 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
On Monday, August 19, at the Rockwall ISD staff Convocation, Superintendent Jeff Bailey announced that Julie Woodard has been selected as one of three elementary finalists in the state of Texas. Woodard will be interviewed by an independent panel in Austin next month. One elementary and one secondary teacher of the year will be named Texas Teachers of the Year for 2013. This honor makes Woodard the second teacher in Rockwall ISD history to advance to this level of the competition.
