Rockwall reader remarks on Brookshires closing

(Rockwall) August 21, 2013 – Dear Editor,

I was so dismayed to see the notice of closing on the front door of Brookshires this week.

We moved here in 1978, just before the store opened, and have been customers ever since.

We have certainly been frequent customers of the wonderful pharmacy for the last 4 years as my husband and I have struggled with health issues. The pharmacy is so much more than a “drug store” to me.

The pharmacists, Ruth and Carrie, have been such caring, understanding, and supportive women, who along with their great assistants, made me feel that I mattered ( that they were not just treating the disease, they were treating me).

I felt free to ask about remedies, whine about things that were nothing at all in the scheme of life, get advice and always feel the connection  between us.

I am sure the drugstore service will be good at the new store, but I feel like I am losing friends with the move. I will miss each of them.
