(Rockwall) August 27, 2013 – Rockwall District Attorney Kenda Culpepper was named the 2013 “Woman of Influence” by the Rockwall Republican Women last week.
RCRW Past President Jerry Fisher and State Senator Bob Deuell presented the award at the club’s August Tea at Occasions in Royse City. The award is to recognize ladies who are outstanding women of influence in their community, business world, and the Republican Party.
“I was incredibly honored to receive the award,” said Culpepper. “It was made more special by the fact that one of my dear friends and mentors, Chief Justice Carolyn Wright, received the award last year.”
Culpepper has served Rockwall County as District Attorney since 2008. She is the current state chair of the State Bar of Texas’ Professionalism Committee and Legislative Co-Chair of the North Texas Crime Commission. In 2013, she was one of two statewide lawyers to receive the prestigious “Certificate of Merit” which is awarded by the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors and past presidents to recognize a Texas lawyer’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession.
Culpepper has been a very influential member of the Republican Party as well. In 2004, she founded the Rockwall County Young Republicans and was elected as the State Chair of the Texas Young Republican Federation in 2006. She has been Legal Counsel for the Rockwall County GOP Executive Board and Legal Counsel and VP of Campaign Activities for the Rockwall County Republican Women. In 2008, she was awarded the Rockwall County “Sparks Award” for service to the party.
Culpepper has been named by D Magazine as one of the “Best Lawyers in Dallas,” by Texas Monthly as a “Texas Super Lawyer” and by Forbes Skyradio as one of “America’s Most Influential Women.”
