Dallas News columnist to address Friends of Rockwall Library

Jacquielynn Floyd, award-winning metro columnist for the Dallas Morning News, will address the Friends of the Rockwall County Library at their October 8th meeting.

(ROCKWALL – September 22, 2013) Dallas Morning News metropolitan columnist Jacquielynn Floyd will be the guest speaker for the October 8th Friends of the Rockwall County Library luncheon.

She will address the audience on the challenges of keeping up in a changing media world.

Floyd began working as a daily journalist in 1980 when she launched her career as an obituary clerk for the Austin, Texas American-Statesman.  The sixth-generation Texan attended George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia but says she “hastened back to Texas as quickly as possible.”

Since becoming a columnist in 1999, Floyd has been named the best in the state by the Texas Press Managing Editors, the Headliners Foundation, and the Press Club of Dallas.  She is married to a fellow journalist and lives in the suburbs.

All meetings of Friends of the Library are open to the public; however reservations are required and must be made no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 1st.

Meetings are held in the Community Room of the Rockwall County Library, start at 11:00 a.m. and are followed by a luncheon by Zach’s Catering.  Cost is $15, payable at the door.  For reservations, call 972-771-8976 or e-mail .
