Smokin’ hot barbecue competition, 5k/10k run, car show, BBQ & Brews
(ROCKWALL – Sept 26, 2013) – Get your southern taste buds ready for the best in Texas barbeque at the 5th Annual Rib Rub Run & Roll on the Rockwall Downtown Square Oct. 5th.
Hosted by the Old Town Shoppes, there will be even more fun this year with the addition of an antique/classic/custom car show.
Visitors can start the day’s fun with a 5k/10k run, then vote in the Peoples Choice Competition for best chicken wings and sample competitor’s barbeque while enjoying live music all day. Sanctioned by the International Barbecue Cookers Association, this exciting event drew 35 teams last year.
The car show, hosted by T&T Color Supply, will include two awards for Peoples Choice and Mayors Choice.
Buffalo Wild Wings is again sponsoring the Peoples Choice Competition. Visitors can buy wings from barbeque competitors and vote for their favorite.
Also new this year is BBQ & Brews, hosted by the Old Town Shoppes. It will be similar to their Sip & Stroll Wine Tasting held each year at the city’s Founders Day Festival. Patrons can purchase brew glasses at the Main Street Booth for the tasting.
The Running Center is hosting the 5k/10k runs at 8 a.m. (10k) and 8:30 a.m. (5k), and the awards presentation is at 9:30 a.m. Live music will fill the air all day beginning at 10 a.m. Performing will be Water Sign, the Paul Harrington Band, Blues Driver and the Justin Cash Band.
Be on the square Oct. 5th from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. for a fantastic day of fun and toe tappin’ music highlighted by the amazing taste and aroma of true Texas barbeque at its best!
