ROCKWALL ISD (November 14, 2013) The Rockwall High School Jacket Backers have selected Cadie Gaubatz as the Lady Jacket Athlete of the Month and Tony Pecora as the Yellowjacket Athlete of the Month.
Gaubatz, an 11th grade member of the varsity golf team, was nominated by Coach Bily Watkins and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
Gaubatzis a junior and has been one of the top players for the Lady Jackets over the last two years. She is the defending 12-AAAAA Individual Champion as she helped the Lady Jackets win the district championship. She lead her team in scoring every tournament last year. She’s very talented and should have another outstanding year for the Lady Jacket golf team.
In her first tournament of the 2013-2014 seson, Cadie won first place with a 76 at the Denton Guyer Invitational at Oakmont Country Club.
“Cadie is a very talented young lady. She is capable of shooting in the low 70’s consistently and I hope that she puts in the time to get to that level and stay there as the year progresses,” said Coach Watkins.
Also nominated for this month’s Lady Jacket Athlete of the Month was Rylie Robertson (Cross Country).
Pecora, an 11th grade member of the Varsity football team, was nominated by Rodney Webb and chosen by the Jacket Backers board.
During the month of October, Tony was 14 for 14 in extra points and 7 for 9 in field goals, including a 50 yard field goal against North Mesquite. Pecora kept the Yellowjacket football team in most every game with his outstanding kicking performances. Not only were his numbers eye-popping, but several of his kicks were during crunch-time, when most high school kickers fail to give their best.
“Tony Pecora had the greatest single month of any kicker I’ve ever coached,” said Coach Webb.
Also nominated for this month’s Yellowjacket Athlete of the Month Award were Colt Ramsey (Cross Country) and Adam House (Golf).
