Marigold students fill shoe boxes for Women In Need

ROCKWALL (December 26, 2013) This holiday season, students of the Marigold Learning Academy generously supported Women In Need, a Rockwall organization that provides a safe place for victims of domestic violence and their children. The students helped fill shoe boxes with special presents for W.I.N.

“Initially taking a shoe box, filling it with gifts for others, can be a difficult concept for children with sensory  issues. However, by going through the process of filling and giving the boxes that they have put together themselves through generous donations from the parents and staff, incorporates learned skills and a Holiday Tradition,” Karri Wilson, Director of Education said.

The wrapped and filled boxes were delivered to the W.I.N. center in Rockwall where the staff gladly excepted them from Grant, a  1st grade student,  and Kayla, a pre-teen volunteer. This was a wonderful example of children helping children by bringing a little joy during the holiday season.
