Rockwall Chamber honors Blue Ribbon News as Partner of the Month (VIDEO)

December 1, 2013 – The Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce celebrates the achievements of local businesses and community organizations by featuring one outstanding business or organization each month. The Partner Spotlight of the Month is awarded to companies who have recognized and can demonstrate the added value of being a Chamber member.

The Chamber has selected Blue Ribbon News as its November 2013 Partner Spotlight of the Month. Cindy Benefield, Operations Manager for the Rockwall Area Chamber, recognized owners Dawn and Richard Redig in a special video presentation, while last month’s award winner, Amy Stehr of Christian Brothers Automotive, handed off the traveling trophy.

“About four years ago we would never have been able to tell someone about the value of the Chamber. I’ve owned other businesses in the past and never stepped up to join a Chamber. But time and time again we saw others benefiting and growing as a result of Chamber membership,” said Richard, who serves as BRN’s Advertising and Marketing Director. “When Dawn left the Dallas Morning News and launched Blue Ribbon News, we knew that the Chamber could help keep us plugged into the community on many levels. Honestly, being part of the Rockwall Chamber has truly built our business to what it is today.”

Blue Ribbon News has grown from an online community news site to a 24-page, full color news publication that is delivered free to more than 16,200 homes throughout Rockwall and Heath. Positive hometown news, feature stories and events are shared not only through the online site and newspaper, but through social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and an e-edition newsletter. Through BRNMedia, they also help brand and market local businesses and organizations through social media management, video production and creative efforts.

“There are so many good things happening in this community, and there are so many people doing good things behind the scenes. We couldn’t possibly shine the spotlight on all of them without the connections we’ve made through the Chamber – the businesses, organizations and individuals who not only share their story ideas, but often contribute photos and articles of their own. The paper becomes an extension of the Chamber, and of the community as a whole,” said Dawn, Blue Ribbon News editor and publisher.

“We are super proud to be a part of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, and we are very appreciative of this special honor,” said Richard.
