ROCKWALL COUNTY (January 30, 2014) Rockwall County Historical Foundation announces the current schedule for their popular Brown Bag lectures, held on the second Friday of the month in the downtown, historic Courthouse.
The meetings are from noon to 1 pm and are free and open to the public. Please join with others who are interested in learning more about Rockwall County’s unique history.

THE BANKHEAD HIGHWAY: AN AMERICAN BY-WAY
Historian Dan Smith provides photos and background on the Bankhead Highway, a coast-to-coast by-way that ran through Rockwall, Fate and Royse City.

ROYSE CITY RECOLLECTIONS
Royse City native Deloris Cross Ballard will share her personal recollections of growing up in Royse City as well as the history of the community.

STORIES FROM ROCKWALL COUNTY
Nancy and Bruce Beaty will present a wonderful program featuring interesting stories about the community.

ONE AMERICAN SOLDIER
Jo Nell Melody will share the story of her father-in-law who live in Royse City. This is a story of his service in World War II and his capture in France.
JUNE-AUGUST: SUMMER BREAK

A CHAMPIONSHIP REMEMBERED
Linda Duran and guests will a recent video featuring the story of Rockwall High School’s 1963 State Championship football team and present personal reflections. The video features new footage and the exciting story of this championship season.

A FULL DECK: PHOTOS FEATURED ON THE RCHF PLAYING CARDS
This program features the photos that will appear on the RCHF’s playing cards (the deck is being produced as a fundraiser for the Foundation). Lots of photos and interesting stories!

THE ROCK WALL REVISTED
This popular annual program will re-examine the history of the rock wall and the developments since the History Channel’s airing of the America Unearthed episode featuring Rockwall’s unique underground formation.
