Rockwall-Heath grads excel at US Naval Academy
Just after the Navy’s win over Hawaii at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, graduates from Rockwall-Heath High School posed for a quick picture. From left: Jacob Glastad (2016), Michael Gerritsen (2015), Stefanie Cotner (2015), Amanda Zabolotny (2017), and Chase La Rosa (2016).

ROCKWALL (January 19, 2014) Rockwall-Heath High School is well represented at the United States Naval Academy.

Jacob Glastad (2016)  has made the Superintendent’s and the Commandants’ list for outstanding academics every semester as a Physics major. He attended NOLS Mountaineering (National Outdoor Leadership School) in Alaska this past summer.

Michael Gerritsen (2015) was the first RHHS student to receive a direct appointment to the Naval Academy. He majors in International Relations and serves on the Infantry Skills Team.

Stefanie Cotner (2015) was the first student from RHHS to receive an appointment into the United States Naval Academy after attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, RI in 2011. Stefanie is majoring in American Politics and Law. She was selected to attend a LREC program (Language Skills, Regional Expertise, and Cultural Awareness) in Italy for a month this summer and is assigned to a 30 day fleet surface cruise out of Hong Kong.

Amanda Zabolotny is currently a Plebe (Freshman). She is on the USNA varsity cheer team.  The Plebe year at the academy is considered the most difficult, because attending the Naval Academy is not normal college.  The Plebes year serves as indoctrination into the military way of life. This year includes military obligations and practices on top of an average 18 class-credit semester.  This summer she will spend four weeks on her Youngster Cruise where she will be assigned to a naval vessel in the fleet.

Amanda and Stefanie were both varsity cheerleaders while attending Rockwall-Heath.

Chase La Rosa (2016) has made the Superintendents’ and Commandant’s list for outstanding academics every semester. He is a starter on the Navy Men’s Club Volleyball Team and is majoring in Applied Physics. He will be interning at the Los Alamos National Laboratory over this upcoming summer.

They are all currently Midshipman attending the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
