Williams Middle School students earn awards at Robotics competition

Blue Team wins first place in Robot Performance, advances to Regionals

ROCKWALL (January 24, 2014) J. W. Williams Middle School was proud to have entered two Robotics teams in the Area competition held January 18th at the UME Preparatory Academy in Dallas.  Congratulations go to both teams for all their hard work and success in the competition.

The Wildcat Orange team, consisting of Andrew Dayman, Devin Williams, Drake Fuller, Jack McDonald, Jason Dupre, Josh Larriviere, Kyla Carlson and Parker Bassett won the prestigious Judges Award.  The Judges Award is given to the team which excels not only in the four main areas of the competition, but also displays teamwork and gracious professionalism throughout the competition.

The Wildcat Blue team, consisting of Aaron Smith, Branden Purcell, Brennan Manning, Jordan Hensley, Josh Creamer and Ryan Wang, received First Place for Robot Performance, recording the highest scoring run of the competition with a score of 401.  With their first place finish in Robot Performance, the Wildcat Blue team advances to the Regional competition on February 1st at the Hockaday School where they will compete for an opportunity to advance to Nationals  in Florida.
