ROWLETT, TX (March 22, 2014) Girl Scout Anna Rigodanzo presented copies of her “Field Guide of the Birds of Lake Ray Hubbard” to the Rowlett Public Library on March 11, 2014.  Accompanying Anna in the presentation were her father, John Rigodanzo, and Dave Holl, project sponsor.

A lifetime camping and nature enthusiast, as well as a 12-year member of the Girl Scouts, Anna wrote and published the identification guide in fulfillment of a Girl Scout Gold Award.  She photographed, researched and compiled information for over 30 species of native birds in the Lake Ray Hubbard area, creating a visually appealing, user-friendly and water resistant guidebook.

Information on the Paddle Point Creek paddling trail is also included, indicating trail length, float time, and GPS location coordinates.  In creating a sustainable project, Anna generously donated 12 copies of her field guide to Kayak Instruction, Inc., an organization offering kayak lessons on Lake Ray Hubbard.  The guide serves to encourage kayakers to actively enjoy and appreciate the wildlife found on the lake, and to instill a community a sense of responsibility for the care and preservation of the wildlife there.

A copy of Anna’s field guide will be kept for Reference at the Library, with another copy available for checkout.
