ROCKWALL, TX (April 16, 2014) Firefighters and nurses from all over Dallas are joining together for a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Rockwall Taco Casa. The fundraising event will benefit benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
The Rockwall Relay for Life, set for April 25 at Cain Middle School, is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk. Teams camp around the track and members take turns walking. There are food, games and activities which build camaraderie. The car wash is one of several fundraising events taking place all over Rockwall as a part of the Relay.
The community support for the car wash so far has been overwhelming, according to Jake Hempstead, fire fighter and event coordinator. With assistance from Taco Casa, the Rockwall Fire Department, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall, and Isagenix, he expects the car wash to be a success.
“We may only make a couple hundred dollars on the car wash,” said Hempstead. “But those few dollars will combine with other donations from generous people in Rockwall. Pretty soon those few dollars will multiple into a million, and imagine how many people we will help with a million dollars.”
