ROCKWALL/HEATH, TX (April 18, 2014) The Fulton School Board of Trustees recently named Letha Hopkins, Ed.D, the Head of School, effective June 1, 2014.
Dr. Hopkins becomes the seventh academic leader of the private school in Heath, founded 27 years ago by Suzanne Nash and Norma Morris and named for Bernard Fulton, who also started Dallas’ Greenhill School in 1950.
“After completing a thorough search for a new Head of School, we could not be more happy with the availability and selection of Dr. Hopkins,” said Steve Wingard, Board of Trustees President. “She has the track record, confidence and ability to take Fulton to a higher level of excellence. Our kids the school as a whole, and our community will benefit from her service at Fulton.”
Dr. Hopkins has recently served as Superintendent of Bartlett ISD after retiring from a 35-year public education career in Texas. She served as a teacher, librarian, campus administrator and superintendent in rural and suburban school districts with diverse student and economic populations. Within the past 9 years, Dr. Hopkins served in neighboring Forney ISD as Principal of O.B. Johnson Elementary and Forney High School.
“The Fulton School exudes a genuine family feel, and I am excited about joining the students, staff and families to achieve success and to grow as life-long learners and as a school,” said Dr. Hopkins. In the next two months, The Fulton School will hold Open Houses and “Meet & Greets” for families and potential new families to visit and tour the campus.
All 7th grade students at The Fulton School qualified for the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP), and 40 percent of the 2014 senior class was awarded full-tuition scholarships to the universities of their choice.
