ROCKWALL, TX (April 4, 2014) Centsible Thrift Store encourages everyone to dust off the forgotten glory of your old prom dress and play dress up for a good cause at the Rockwall County Helping Hands Junk Prom and Flea Market.
The second annual shopping event will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 5 at The Centsible Thrift Store of Helping Hands,950 Williams Streetin Rockwall. Enjoy a magical afternoon with music, dancing and the Junk Prom Pageant.
The pageant begins at 2 p.m. The contestant with the best junk prom attire will be crowned King or Queen, and win a $50 gift certificate to Centsible Thrift Store. Contestants will be rated on their junk prom attire and pageantry. It’s free to enter; sign up at Centsible or email melodyeast@rockwallhelpinghands.com.
Rockwall Main Street Manager Bethany Browning and Kevin LeFere of Zanata hold the current title of Junk Prom King and Queen. They were nominated last year by the Rockwall Downtown Merchants. Wineshare nominees Vivian Brown and Kenneth Shields were fierce contenders. This year only one winner will don the crown, giving individuals without a “prom date” the chance to compete.
The Junk Prom Court trailer will once again add to the royal affair. Retrofitted in true Centsible Thrift Store style, the trailer will be transformed into the most happening and posh place to take prom pictures.
Thrifty prom-goers will also appreciate the bargains available at the Flea Market. The store will be completely filled with fresh merchandise and promises to be a true junk prom experience, so organizers encourage you to come ready to shop ‘til you drop.
