Rockwall-Heath fashion students advance to national competition

ROCKWALL / HEATH, TX (April 24, 2014) Three of Rockwall-Heath High School’s Advanced Fashion students will advance to national competition for Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) this summer in San Antonio.

Fashion teacher Julie Durst says she has never had this many students advance to Nationals.

From left are: Senior Hannah Barton competing in fashion construction, received 2nd place at state; senior Nicole Johnson competing in national programs in action, received 2nd place at state; and junior Madison Dale, competing in fashion design, received 2nd place at state.

This is Nicole’s second time to advance to nationals, which has never happened at RHHS.

RHHS fashion students also achieved outstanding results at the recent Rockwall Youth Fair.

Nicole johnson took first place and Grand Champion overall with her handmade blazer and dress.
Zizi Shalabi placed second with her handmade dress.
Jorden Wells placed third in the Youth Fair with her handmade vest.
