Eight Rockwall swimmers commit to NCAA

ROCKWALL, TX (May 22, 2014) Eight swimmers from the Rockwall Aquatics Center of Excellence (RACE) Class of 2014 have committed to swim in the NCAA during the 2014-2015 season.

Since its inception in 2009, RACE has grown to have over 300 swimmers ages 5 through 18 under the leadership of Head Coach and Aquatics Director Neil Walker. The philosophy of the program is to instill a strong training and technique base, then develop that foundation through the end of high school when the swimmers will either move on to the next level of swimming in the NCAA, or enter adulthood with the skill and work ethic which will help them maintain a healthy lifestyle for years to come.

The following RACE seniors have committed to swim in NCAA programs during the 2014-2015 season:

Jared Butler: University of Texas

Hunter Arnold: Henderson State University

Ethan Nicholson: Wayland Baptist University

Wyatt Fannin: Adams State University

Megan Conner: Oklahoma Baptist University

Haylie Harbin: United States Air Force Academy

Zoe Peak: Henderson State University

Collin Vu (Not Pictured): Austin College

“I’m very proud of these student-athletes who have committed to swimming at the next level in the NCAA. They are all ready for what lies ahead of them and I have all confidence they will continue to improve and contribute to their respective collegiate teams,” said Coach Neil Walker, who himself earned 25 NCAA All-American awards and 4 Olympic Medals while swimming for the University of Texas. “Anyone who sets their mind to it can swim in college. It just takes dedication, perseverance and discipline; all qualities these eight swimmers have demonstrated while swimming with RACE.”
