Meals on Wheels golf tournament to benefit homebound seniors

ROCKWALL COUNTY, TX (May 28, 2014) The 5th Annual Golf Tournament benefiting Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County will take place on Friday, May 30 at the Buffalo Creek Golf Club.

The Meals on Wheels vision for our county is that all seniors and disabled can live a nourished life with independence and dignity. This annual event has become an important part of funding that vision. The entry fee is $100 per golfer, which will feed approximately three seniors in our community for one week.

Golfers will enjoy Chick-Fil-A lunch as they arrive, check in, and peruse raffle items from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The tournament begins at 1:30 p.m. with a shotgun start. This year’s golf tournament will feature a “Buy a Drive” hole, a “Las Vegas” hole, and a Hole in One contest with a golf cart as the prize. In addition to having a great time on the beautiful Buffalo Creek golf course, the awards dinner following the tournament will feature live entertainment. Cash prizes will go to the top three teams as well as the top male and female golfer, closest to the pin, and longest drive.

Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County depends on community partners and successful fundraising events to accomplish their mission. The 5th Annual Golf Tournament would not be possible without the tremendous support of the community. This year, Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial offered to match the first $2,500 brought in from the tournament. One of the Corporate Sponsors, Dick’s Sporting Goods, is contributing by setting up and running the “Buy a Drive” and “Las Vegas.” Monte Allred, Lake Pointe Hospital, Spine Team Texas, Mishler Builders, Farmers Electric Co-op, Fritz Industries, Inc., Whitmore Manufacturing, and Whittle Development have also joined in making this event possible.
